Why choose Half Pints 

 

Half Pints has been established 23 years and offers the best of both worlds high quality childcare within a happy, nurturing, safe and stimulating home environment offering inclusive, planned and child initiated activities. Challenging and engaging play opportunities for all children to develop positive relationships and to reach their full potential, based around EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), the 7 areas of learning.

Our Ofsted child-adult ratio means we have only 9 children a day, such a positive for your child, as this allows one to one, personal adult attention enhancing personal learning  and close bonds to be made, which given number is not always available in other nursery settings. 

​

Mixed age approach whereby young children learn from the older children and ages are not separated. 

Children quickly develop reciprocal relationships that scaffold their individual learning.  Whether it is a toddler modelling the language of an older child during mealtimes, or a busy four-year-old developing a sense of responsibility as they support pouring drinks at a meal time.

The "Minders"

 

Three Childminders work together on our very large premises, all DBS checked, registered by OFSTED, and are covered by PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years) public liability insurance. They have longevity of employment with Half Pints, as we feel it is important that children have consistency of carer.  

We all have NVQ 3, Paediatric First Aid,  Safe guarding, Food Hygiene, epi-pen anaphylactic shock safe/asthma management and we continue to keep up to date with regular training.

Parents

 

We use an app called Tapestry, whereby parents can log in to see the activities and reports on your child. 

We work closely with parents to ensure that their child is progressing in all areas of development

We hold regular Parent meetings where the progress of your child can be discussed.

Our home

The ground floor is dedicated to the children and consists of 4 large rooms.

​

Free-choice land

Is our warm a cosy room, filled with soft furnishings for lounging on the floor, easily accessible toys, tactile/textured wall, puzzles, counting, role play, dressing up, singing, movement and choosing books from the book corner.

 

Messy play land

A beautifully airy conservatory for children to express their artistic skills; play with water and sand pit, cooking, and easily accessible resource boxes.

 

This area doubles up for our dining area where we serve food from our healthy tots menu during lunch and snack times. 

 

Slumber 

Cosy room with Sleep mats and cots for the very young and baby monitors and viewing windows are used at all times. Each child has their own personal bed linen and named boxes for all their own nappies, creams, and change of clothes.

 

Soft play room 

Crash mats, soft slides, safety circus mirrors and the ball pit provides the children with a place to learn balance and self expression.
